Roy Hill Enters NHRA SpringNationals Seeking Third Consecutive Super Stock Class Win

Fresh off Super Stock FSS/B class wins at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL, and NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Concord, NC, Roy Hill is taking his hot streak to the 28th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, TX.

Hill’s marketing partners have stepped up for the long haul to the Houston area. In addition to continued primary backing from FireAde 2000, Hill is receiving additional support from Odessa, TX-based Hughes Oilfield Transportation as well as Houston-based Polymer Dynamics and their PolyDyn TX7 engine treatment. Renowned dealership Baytown Ford has also increased their involvement with Hill for their hometown race.

“Hughes Oilfield Transportation has been with me for several years, and I’m looking forward to flying their colors on the hood of the Phoenix Racing Ford Mustang Cobra Jet this weekend in Baytown,” Hill said. “PolyDyn TX7 has been a part of the Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School program for a long time as well, and being located here in the Houston area gives them the perfect chance to come out to the track and have some fun. Of course Baytown Ford is just ten minutes from the track so they always have a great bunch come and hang out with us. I’m very excited about having everyone with us this weekend, and we’ll see if we can make it three class wins in a row.”

From Baytown, Hill will head back home to North Carolina for the Roush Yates Performance Parts Civil Wars, part of the Fun Ford event May 1-3 at Rockingham Dragway. A classic North vs. South matchup will feature Rhode Island native Carl Tasca representing the North in his 2010 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, while Hill will battle for the South in his Cobra Jet with backing from FireAde 2000, Hughes Oilfield Transportation, Alsco, and Coca-Cola.

“Carl and I have been match racing these Cobra Jets for the last several years, and he’s up on me right now, two victories to one. I need a good showing so I can even the score,” Hill said.

Open testing at Rockingham runs from 4 PM to 10 PM Friday, May 1 and racing action begins Saturday. Visit rockinghamdragway.com for all the details. Following the race, Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School will be in session May 5-6 at “The Rock”. Space is still available and can be reserved by calling (336) 498-7964.

The month of May is always a busy one for Hill and for motorsports as a whole, and this year is no exception. Leading up to NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24, Hill will host executives from Alsco as they make plans to expand their corporate events at zMAX Dragway in addition to their existing events at Kentucky Speedway.

“Performing on the track is just part of my job. I take a lot of pride in working with my sponsors away from the track to make sure their needs are met,” Hill said. “It’s a very rewarding experience and I’m looking forward to everything we have scheduled this spring.”
