Frequent rain showers led the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) to postpone qualifying action Friday evening at the PDRA Super Strip Nationals at National Trail Raceway near Columbus, Ohio. Qualifying will resume Saturday morning, weather permitting.
“We tried everything we could to get the racing surface ready for qualifying today,” said Bob Harris, PDRA race director. “(Track prep director) Tyler Crossnoe and the PDRA and National Trail track crews made multiple attempts to dry the track, but the rain showers were persistent. We’ll try again tomorrow.”
Competitors in Coolshirt Pro Jr. Dragster and Gilbert Motorsports Top Jr. Dragster received one qualifying session before the rain started Friday morning. MagnaFuel Top Sportsman racers nearly completed their first session, while Lucas Oil Top Dragster drivers were ready to go in the staging lanes. Still left to make a qualifying attempt are competitors in Atomizer Racing Injectors Outlaw 10.5, East Side Auto Transport Pro Outlaw 632, Drag 965 Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Moroso Pro Boost and Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous presented by MoTeC.
Track drying is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m.
