Massel Testing New Comp Turbo Dragster

Detailer’s Pro Series Waxes and Cleaners and Former NHRA World Champion Bruno Massel have teamed up to campaign a new turbocharged dragster in NHRA’s Competition Eliminator.

“To say I’m really excited about the new car is an understatement,” said Massel. “I began working with Palm Beach Motoring Group last year, which is the parent company of Detailer’s Pro Series. They were looking for a new way to promote the brand and I’m glad they chose my racing program.”

The new Spitzer car has the same proven drive train that powered Massel’s Chevrolet Cobalt to the 2009 Comp championship. Strapped between the frame rails is a turbocharged Chevrolet ECOtec 4-cylinder engine from Chevrolet Performance with power transferred to the rear wheels through a Bruno’s BRT Converter Drive.

“We feel really confident in the combination we’ve been running the past few seasons. Our Cobalt is arguably the most consistent turbocharged car in the country, so in order to keep that consistency we relied heavily on the people that have gotten us here.”

Precision Turbo, Big Stuff3, JEGS, PTC Converters, Chevrolet Performance, Weld Wheels, Aeromotive fuel systems, Lucas Oil Products, K&N and Goodyear all played a major roles in getting the new car up and running.

Massel plans to compete with both cars in Comp eliminator, as well as Top Sportsman and select Sport Compact events with the team’s Cobalt.

“We’re still in the testing phase with the dragster, but it’s already shown that its fast.  Now it’s just a matter of getting familiar with the car.”
