Dubai native Khalid Al Balooshi announced today a partnership with H.H. Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Kingdom of Bahrain that will have the 2011 NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series champion driving for Bahrain 1 Racing in 2016 and beyond.
“I am very pleased and excited about this opportunity. This is the beginning of something special,” said Balooshi, a former NHRA Top Fuel driver and current NHRA Pro Mod competitor.
“I want to thank all the people that have helped get me where I am today,” he continued. “My longtime friend and partner, Jess, my company RSG and everyone who works hard day-in and day-out to make RSG so successful, as well as Top Speed. These people have been instrumental in my career and I’m thrilled to turn the next page.”
Bahrain 1 Racing will be the primary sponsor on Al Balooshi’s nitrous-injected Chevy Camaro Pro Mod beginning at the upcoming Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, and carry on through the rest of 2016 and 2017 seasons.
This announcement comes on the heels of PDRA Pro Nitrous and drag radial racing standout Steve Jackson making public his partnership with Bahrain 1 Racing earlier this season.
“I’m really excited about racing with Balooshi and Bahrain 1,” said Jackson. “This is a well thought out and executed plan, and I’m fired up to work with folks who want to win and know what it takes to succeed.”
