Support for the Drag Illustrated World Doorslammer Nationals presented by CTech Manufacturing continues to build, as race officials announced today that JEGS, the worldwide high-performance parts powerhouse, has been added as a major sponsor for the inaugural race, which takes place March 6-8 at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
Paying $50,000 to the winners in Pro Stock and Pro Mod, the World Doorslammer Nationals puts two standout classes in the spotlight with a big payday and major prestige on the line. Among the stars slated to attend includes Team JEGS star Jeg Coughlin Jr., a legendary standout who has captured five career Pro Stock world championships.
“We’re excited to be part of an event like this that spotlights two of the biggest doorslammer classes in the world,” said Scott Woodruff, Director of Media and Motorsports at JEGS. “To see the payouts and know the money is going to the racers, we’re all really impressed with it. To see the list of companies behind this is also impressive, and we’re thrilled to be among that group.”
Celebrating its 60th year in 2020, JEGS continues to be a worldwide e-commerce leader in the mail-order, high-performance auto parts business, offering more than one million items for purchase. What started as a single store in 1960 now includes a massive, state-of-the-art corporate headquarters, warehouse and distribution center, putting JEGS at the forefront of the auto parts business.
In the midst of that 60th anniversary, Team JEGS will also celebrate Pro Stock’s 50th year in 2020, with the World Doorslammer Nationals a perfect opportunity to commemorate both at a unique, fan-friendly event.
“I think the appeal for this event is that it’s something different,” Woodruff said. “Different is good and this will be something the fans will enjoy, the racers will enjoy and the sponsors will get a lot out of. We like to be involved with things our customers enjoy and are passionate about because we’re passionate about those same things. We have a long history in Pro Stock and Pro Mod, and its translates well to our customers because they can relate to these cars, so that’s pretty cool.”
Qualifying begins on Friday, March 6 with two rounds, while three rounds take place on Saturday, March 7. Final eliminations follow on Sunday, March 8, and the entire World Doorslammer Nationals will be broadcast at SpeedVideo.com.
“I don’t know that I could be any more excited to have JEGS involved with this inaugural World Doorslammer Nationals,” Drag Illustrated Founder and Editorial Director Wes Buck said. “To have JEGS join the party, especially in their 60th year, it’s just over the top. JEGS has always been a track-tested type of company, a racer-first operation and that’s exactly our vision with this event. We’re going to treat the racers like royalty, pay them well and make sure they have an absolutely great time with us.
“Scott Woodruff and the whole team at JEGS are the exact type of marketing partners you look forward to working with at an event like this. They work hard to activate their sponsorships and make the most of the investments they make. They’re a perfect fit for us, and we’re excited to have them involved and look forward to doing them proud the first weekend in March.”
