Fast Cars, Fireworks and Fun at Summit Motorsports Park’s Cavalcade of Stars

Spectacular sportsman racing will be in the spotlight for the 10th Annual Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser, May 20-22, 2016, at Summit Motorsports Park.

The event awash with action boasts the largest attendance year after year on the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series North Central Division tour. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, featuring 285 mph-plus vehicles, Top Alcohol Funny Car, featuring 270 mph-plus vehicles, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. Also contested are Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Pro Stock Snowmobile and the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series, which includes Pro Fuel, Top Fuel and five additional Sportsman categories.

“We’re proud to call this one of the greatest sportsman events on the planet,” said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. “Among the many things that make it special is the fact that fans can interact with their favorite or soon-to-be-favorite drivers and riders in the pit area.”

Queen of Diamonds IIAdded electrifying entertainment will come from Scotty Heat and his 50 Cal jet engine-powered dragster; Sarah Edwards, the new pilot of the Queen of Diamonds II jet engine-powered dragster, which recently rocketed to a 301 mph run, and her Hanna Motorsports teammates, Rich Hanna and Ken Hall and their jet engine-powered Funny Cars. A colossal and colorful display of fireworks will put an exclamation mark on all of the action on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Gates open at 7 a.m. each day. Time trials and qualifying begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, and eliminations begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Tickets are $9.99 for one day, free for children 6 and younger. Summit Club reserved seats are $19.99 for one day, $10 for children. Parking is free.
