DI DRIVER BLOG: Megan Meyer

All of us from Randy Meyer Racing have been very busy getting everything ready for the 2016 NHRA race season! To recap 2015, we introduced our brand new Top Alcohol Dragster from Copeland Race Cars and it did an amazing job when it came to race day – we couldn’t be happier! We introduced Bill Litton and Mark Taliaferro to the race team and

they have both been excellent drivers,  earning a win and runner-up finishes with both of our A/Fuel Dragsters. Also, I was the latest addition to the Randy Meyer Racing Team with my Top Alcohol debut at the St. Louis and Topeka regional events – earning a runner-up and semi-final finish!! I couldn’t be happier with my amazing crew and team who have all been able to make our powerful dragsters win almost every round of eliminations. We had a great season celebrating our 35th year of drag racing, and to top it off, my dad, Randy Meyer, earned his seventh Division 5/Central Region Points Championship! This is the second year in a row that we have claimed the lead for the region, and he also earned the Pro-Sportsman Driver of the Year for the second year in a row to conclude his full-time driving career.

My dad will be racing alongside me in the 2016 season at a select few races, but he will keep his primary focus on tuning both dragsters. I am so excited for my first full season as a professional Top Alcohol Dragster driver with 18 races on our schedule, and I am thrilled to have Racers Evolved apparel and Herbalife 24 nutrition partnerships! We are also proud to have continued support with Lucas Oil, NGK Spark Plugs, GUNK Cleaners, Taylor Cable, Racepak Data, ARP Bolts, Aeromotive Fuel Systems, and Quik-Latch Fasteners.

One other big event for 2015 was my graduation from Pittsburg State University in Southeast, KS with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communications Management and Interactive Web Design. I loved the Graphics and Imaging 2016 blog 1_MM 1Department at Pitt State and I have learned very valuable skills that I will cherish for the rest of my life and use to grow our race team to an entirely new level of promotion and interaction. I have used this expertise to begin my own freelance design business helping out other race teams with websites, hero cards, etc. and local businesses who are looking to rebrand and reach out to new markets. I have also been busy supporting my boyfriend, Marcus Carroll, at his Arenacross races where he races his quad, and staying in shape with a healthy active lifestyle. I believe fitness is key to a racer’s driving ability in all motorsports, and I have a strict program of weight lifting 3-4 times a week along with lots of cardio.

Our family and crew have worked almost every night since our last race working to get both dragsters prepped for the new race season. We’ve been pretty lucky with the winter weather, although the average temperature in our (unheated) shop is 30 degrees. The off-season prep has been a little stressful on our team since this will be our first time entering the first Pomona race. We typically don’t begin our season until the Gatornationals, but with our team expanding we have entered the Winternationals with Bill Litton and Alan Bradshaw driving. We are very excited to have Alan Bradshaw back with the Randy Meyer Racing Team; Bradshaw drove for us back in 2003 and earned the Top Alcohol Dragster World Championship Title and was the first A/Fuel Dragster to run in the teens (5.13 E.T.)!

There are a lot of exciting things happening for us this year, and it’s going to come fast! Keep up to date with me via social media (on Facebook and Instagram), and stay tuned for my next DI Blog where I will reveal my new Top Alcohol Dragster scheme and some freebies to y’all!
