Word on the street is that WOOOO! Nation’s Keith Berry and Killin’ Time Racing’s Steve Jackson have set a $5,000 match race to be run during Donald Long’s now-legendary No Mercy event at South Georgia Motorsports Park over the weekend of September 24-27, 2015.
Although the two have not yet set a specific time for the race, it’ll likely go down during qualifying whenever the track seems to be hooking up the best. Berry will pit his twin turbocharged, 454 CI Pro Line Racing LSX-powered Z06 Corvette against Jackson’s screw-blown Fox Body Mustang.
“It was one of those spur-of-the-moment type deals,” says Berry, who admits that one (or several) cocktails may have been involved in agreeing to the wager. True to his cool, comical and controversial self, Berry simply can’t sit idle and is always looking to stir up drag racing drama. “Phil [Shuler] was talking smack on the Internet around the time they appeared on the cover of DRAG ILLUSTRATED and I wanted to shut ‘em down, so I said ‘yeah, I’ll race ya’,” he laughs.
With a whole lot of cash on the line, as well as that all-important Internet infamy, DRAG ILLUSTRATED wants to know, who do you think will go home richer—and who will go home hurting?
