Entertainment Universe, the producer of the film “Snake and Mongoose” which was released theatrically in over 20 cities during the Fall of 2013, announced today that the film will be screened four times during the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction which runs from Sunday, January 12 through Sunday, January 19.
Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction has been ongoing for 43 years and is the company’s premiere event.
“This is the first feature film we have ever screened at a Barrett-Jarrett auction but it made perfect sense to do so in connection with this particular auction because the film chronicles the amazing life and times of legendary drag racers Don (“the Snake”) Prudhomme and Tom (“the Mongoose”) McEwen, and we are auctioning off at the upcoming Scottsdale auction the iconic Hot Wheels Haulers and Funny Cars that are owned by Prudhomme and changed so much about drag racing, sports marketing and the diecast world,” said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson.
“The film will be just one more entertaining way Barrett-Jackson can demonstrate the revolutionary role the Hot Wheels sponsored Haulers and Funny Cars driven by the Snake and the Mongoose in the early 70s played in bringing drag racing into the mainstream of America, making the Hot Wheels brand a huge success and changing the lives of all racers since,” said producer, Robin Broidy.
The screenings will take place at The Miller Lite Garage on the grounds of the auction at Westworld as follows:
Sunday, January 12 1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, January 14 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 16 4:00 p.m.
Friday, January 17 1:00 p.m.
In connection with this historic event and the screenings, Entertainment Universe is running a Facebook Contest in which contestants must watch a portion of the Fox Sports Special which aired just before the end of last year and indicate how many times the word “Snake” is mentioned in the piece. Grand Prize is 2 VIP Tickets to watch the haulers and funny cars go across the block on Saturday, January 18. There will be five Second Place prizes of two General Admission Tickets for Saturday, January 18, ten Third Place Prizes of two General Admission tickets for any day the film will be screened and 20 Fourth Place Prizes of Barrett-Jackson’s stunning Snake and Mongoose Haulers and Funny Cars Poster. The deadline for entries to the contest is Wednesday, January 9 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Don Prudhomme and Tom McEwen will be on the grounds of the auction throughout the week to do press and autograph signings. Entertainment Universe will be selling its full-size movie posters and huge banners featuring Snake’s famous Yellow Hot Wheels ‘Cuda and Mongoose’s famous Red Hot Wheels ‘Duster.
The haulers and funny cars will officially go across the block on Saturday, January 18 between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time during the live coverage on FOX Broadcast.
“It will be an exciting week for Don Prudhomme, Tom McEwen, Barrett-Jackson and car enthusiasts the world over and we are thrilled we can be a part of it,” said Broidy.
