While the first invitations to the 2024 Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod will go out in early October, one invite will be extended early. The Pro Mod winner at this weekend’s Yellowbullet Nationals at Cecil County Dragway will score an invitation to compete in the invite-only World Series of Pro Mod, March 1-3, 2024, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The Yellowbullet Nationals is a points race for the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association (NEOPMA), which is celebrating its 31st season.

“Our team cannot wait to start circulating invitations for the World Series of Pro Mod, and we decided this is a great way to kick off the invites,” said Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated founder and WSOPM promoter. “The Yellowbullet Nationals is a Labor Day weekend tradition in the outlaw doorslammer world. It’s definitely a tough race to win, so we want to reward the winner with a spot at the World Series of Pro Mod. It’s also a great way to celebrate Jim and Cathy Halsey and the Cecil County Dragway team, Monty Mikho and the Yellowbullet Nationals team, and John Mazzorana and his NEOPMA organization.”

The Yellowbullet Nationals has hosted some incredible Pro Mod racing over its decade-plus run at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Maryland. In 2021, it became an official NEOPMA points race. Many of the drivers who compete in the Pro Mod class are NEOPMA members or regularly compete with the group.

“Having one of our guys be invited is an honor,” said John Mazzorana, founder and president, NEOPMA. “It’s always great to work with Cecil County and DI. Having Wes come up with this idea was fantastic. I’ve been a big supporter of the World Series. I believe we have to do more of that in drag racing overall. There’s a lot of small organizations all over the country that don’t get any recognition at all. It’s pretty great that we’ve been recognized as one of the premier organizations in the country.”

The 2023 World Series of Pro Mod field was made up major event winners, world champions, and record holders. To help create a similarly competitive field in 2024, Buck will extend invitations to other event winners over the coming months.

“We’ve got our eye on a few other events where we’ll invite the winners,” Buck said. “Victor Alvarez at Bradenton Motorsports Park has already committed to paying the WSOPM entry fee for the winner of the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals at Bradenton in December, so there’s another invite. We’re just getting started.”
