Wesley Washington Jr. secured the last day for $25,000 on OEM Combustion Service Sunday at the JEGS Performance Door Car Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries at GALOT Motorsports Park.

Wesley Washington Jr. from Fredericksburg, VA captured his first Fling win over Carlton Thornton Jr. from Henrico, VA after putting it one above the dial against the .001 and one thousandth breakout of Thornton. After breaking the rear end in his Camaro on the first day, Washington came back to grab the final big check of the weekend and the ‘25 Fling season while Thornton earned the runner-up spot in his first outing bracket racing after four years.

“It’s been a good day — it’s unbelievable,” said Washington. “I’ve been racing these Spring Flings for awhile now… this one means something to me.”

In the semifinals, Wesley Washington Jr. had an .011 advantage off the starting line and took .009 at the stripe for the win over Richardson, while Carlton Thornton Jr. threw down .006 total against Ernie Humes to advance to the final round.

Tyler Nebel, Robert Richardson, Greg Brown, Carlton Thornton Jr., Chris Van Baalen, Ernie Humes, and Wesley Washington Jr. were the seven drivers remaining in the ladder round. Nebel and Richardson were separated by just .003 at the hit with Richardson taking .009 and running dead-on five to put together .008 total for the win, while Thornton was .007 and .011 above the dial over the .005 and two hundredths over of Brown. Humes used a significant starting line advantage over Van Baalen to turn on the quarterfinals winlight. On his bye run, Washington was .012 and one above the 5.80 dial.

With the completion of the Door Car Fling, the Flings Race Series 2025 season has come to an end. The 2026 schedule will be announced shortly and racers can expect the return of the same five events next year including the Spring Fling Million, Spring Fling, Fling at Norwalk, Fall Fling, and Door Car Fling.
