Tug Brock, Dustin Miller Claim 2024 United Manual Transmission Racers South Championships

United Manual Transmission Racers (UTMR) South wrapped up its 2024 race season at Kil Kare Dragway in Xenia, Ohio.

It was an exciting season as the points chase came down to the final rounds at the final event of the year. In Quick Stick, Tug Brock clenched his third UMTR championship denying Mike Brewer his chance at earning his second. Earlier in the year, Brewer and Brock both went late into the rounds at the annual North vs. South Stick Shift Shootout held at National Trail raceway in September.

Mike Brewer came away a winner that night, earning many points and a Quick Stick victory for UMTR South but it wasn’t enough to hold off Tug Brock who finished the season at Kil Kare with a five round lead over Brewer. Rounding out the top five in championship points were Chuck Martin, Tony King and Ken Herbert.

In Street Stick, Dustin Miller secured his second championship by defeating 2023 champion Nick Duvall in the finals. Miller, coming into the final race was trailing points leader RJ Fisse while being chased by Nick Duvall.  With Fisse getting eliminated early, it left the door wide open for Miller and Duvall. Round after round the chase was on until the two met in the finals with Miller edging Duvall for the race win and the Street Stick championship. Rounding out their top five in championship points were RJ Fisse, Dick Miller and Rick Crouch.

Both Quick Stick and Street Stick classes probably saw more points lead changes this season than any other season.  Additionally, UTMR South saw excellent car count and sponsor support.

UMTR South would like to thank their sponsors, Summit Racing, VP Race Fuels, Keen Corvette Parts, Chassis Doctor, Ken Herbert Plumbing, Moser Engineering, Premier Energy, Liberty’s Gears, Ram Clutches, Lawrence Motorsports, G-Force, Browell Bellhousings, B&T Shaft and Gear, Tony Christian Racing, BES Racing Engines, Auto Meter, Buckeye O’heil, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Auto Works Towing Inc, Cake Creations, Hyper Performance Motorsports, Schaffer’s Towing, and Area Energy & Electric.

Thanks also goes out to its loyal fans as well as the wonderful host tracks and track workers at Kil Kare Dragway, Edgewater Sports Park, Thornhill Dragway, Kentucky Dragway and National Trail Raceway.

UMTR South will hold its annual awards banquet on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at Yeager-Benson Post 19 in Harrison, Ohio. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time by calling UMTR South at 513-748-4586 or emailing [email protected].
