Top Sportsman Driver Marvin Blaney Hospitalized Following Massive Fire at IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Kick-Off

During Wednesday’s opening round of the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series at National Trail Raceway, veteran Top Sportsman driver Marvin Blaney was involved in a frightening incident when his ’63 Corvette erupted into flames while backing up from a burnout during the second round of qualifying.

Track safety personnel responded immediately and removed Blaney from the vehicle. He was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

Sources close to the situation indicate that Blaney suffered severe burns to his arms and hands. No additional updates on his condition were available at the time of this release.

Blaney’s family shared the following update on his Facebook page.

The IHRA and event officials are actively investigating the cause of the fire. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
