Southeast Gassers Set to Rumble in Ringgold at Brainerd Motorsports Park

After an extended summer break – thanks to some unruly weather – the Southeast Gassers Association is ready to fire back up with a full-throttle return to action. The 2025 SEGA season resumes August 1-2 with the Southern Nationals at Brainerd Motorsports Park in Ringgold, Georgia, marking the fourth stop on this year’s championship tour.

Situated just south of the Tennessee-Georgia line off I-75, Brainerd is no stranger to SEGA fans. The historic eighth-mile strip hosted the 2024 season opener and now takes center stage again as a pivotal mid-season battleground. Titles are still very much up for grabs across SEGA’s signature categories: A/FX, H/Gas, Super Stock, C/Gas, B/Gas, and A/Gas.

Here’s where the points battles stand heading into Ringgold:

  • A/Gas: Two-time winner Leslie Horne leads the pack following a strong showing in Knoxville.
  • B/Gas: Ken Rainwater sits atop the standings with back-to-back wins at Shadyside and Knoxville.
  • C/Gas: A dead heat between Jerren Perdue and Ernie Smith. Notably, Smith will become the first SEGA racer to make 100 consecutive starts this weekend.
  • Super Stock: Defending champ Jerry Dean remains undefeated in 2025 and continues to lead the field.
  • H/Gas: Robert Fraizer is holding the top spot, but Colby Welch – coming off a win in Knoxville in his Pontiac-powered Anglia “The Little Indian” – has momentum.
  • A/FX: Points follow the car, and Todd Wimberly’s Southern Comfort is currently No. 1, with wins logged by both Wimberly and 2024 B/Gas champ Daniel Haynes.

The Southern Nationals presented by Harbin’s Mechanical Services kicks off Friday, August 1 with test and tune starting at 5:00 PM ET. Saturday’s main event begins with qualifying at 1:00 PM ET, followed by eliminations.
