Shawn Reed and the Reed Trucking & Excavating Top Fuel Dragster team are eager to make significant progress as they prepare for competition at the Gerber Collision & Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by PEAK Performance at Route 66 Raceway, May 16–18.
Reed enters the sixth event of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season looking to bounce back from a challenging first-round exit at the recent Charlotte four-wide event. Having qualified fourth in Charlotte, Reed was narrowly defeated in a competitive battle, but the setback has only increased the team’s determination.
“Really happy to be getting back to two-wide racing,” Reed said. “It’s been a busy couple weeks in the shop, with our guys working hard on the clutch setup and fine-tuning some areas we found needing improvement. I’m excited to stab the gas and see our hard work pay off. We’re also aiming to test in the coming days, so we’re hoping to run fast, make consistent passes, and continue building on our 2025 campaign.”
Last year at Route 66 Raceway, Reed had a solid outing, qualifying fifth and advancing to the quarterfinal round before falling to competitor Shawn Langdon. This year, Reed is less than two competition rounds outside the Top Fuel top 10 rankings and sees the Joliet race as a prime opportunity to climb the standings.
Fans can expect an energized effort from Reed and his team as they look to capitalize on recent adjustments and return to their winning ways at the iconic Route 66 Raceway.
Event Schedule:
- Qualifying: Friday, May 16 – Saturday, May 17
- Eliminations: Sunday, May 18
Join the excitement as Shawn Reed and the Reed Trucking & Excavating team strive for success in the thrilling NHRA Top Fuel competition this weekend.
