Three-time NHRA world champion Ron Capps and his NAPA Auto Care Funny Car team have teamed up with the Muckleshoot Casino Resort as part of a week-long partnership in conjunction with the NHRA Northwest Nationals taking place at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington this weekend, July 19 – 21.
Located in nearby Auburn, Muckleshoot Casino Resort features an array of dynamic entertainment and gaming options, luxurious accommodations, and a diverse offering of on-site dining establishments, making it the ideal hotel choice for NHRA racers and fans attending the annual Seattle-area race.
“I always love going up to the Pacific Northwest. That area holds so many great memories for me as a driver, but our NAPA team is especially excited about returning to Seattle this year because we get to call the Muckleshoot Casino Resort home for the weekend,” said Capps, who returns to the Pacific Northwest after having advanced to the final round in Norwalk, Ohio at the most recent event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour.
“Our whole team is really excited about staying there. I don’t think a lot of the fans, let alone many of the racers, even realized that the Muckleshoot Casino Resort is only seven miles from the race track. They’ve got fantastic views, a great casino, and restaurants so it really is the perfect place to stay for anyone attending this weekend’s race.”
As part of the promotion, NHRA will host an open-to-the-fans media day with Capps at the 400-plus room venue on Wednesday, July 17, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. local time. Capps’ 12,000 horsepower NAPA Auto Care Toyota GR Supra will be on display throughout the day, while the third-year team owner/driver will be on-site to meet with Seattle-area media members and fans. Additionally, Capps’ 339.28 mph Funny Car and Toyota Sequoia tow vehicle will carry Muckleshoot Casino Resort decals throughout the duration of the NHRA Northwest Nationals. In return, Muckleshoot’s VIP guests will enjoy a front-row view of the NAPA race pit when they are welcomed into the Ron Capps Motorsports Champions Club hospitality pavilion on Saturday to attend day two of qualifying for the event where Capps returns as a four-time winner. The experience will include a private pit and transporter tour led by Capps as well as the opportunity for autographs and photos with the 76-time NHRA national event winner.
“This partnership is such a win-win for our team because we also get to tie it into some of our weekend NAPA activation events as well,” added Capps. “We have NAPA folks coming in from Spokane, Portland, and all over the greater Seattle area to join us and we’re excited to be able to build this relationship with Muckleshoot Casino Resort.”
Qualifying for the NHRA Northwest Nationals kicks off at 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
