Ron Capps Looking Forward to Highlight Stop on NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Tour at Bristol Dragway

Ron Capps, driver of the NAPA AutoCare Toyota GR Supra, will compete in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway, Bristol, Tenn., from June 7-9, 2024. Capps is a seven-time event champion, with victories in 2001, 2006, 2012, 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023, and he also holds the record for the most wins by any Mission Foods Series competitor at this facility.

Last year, Capps qualified second and claimed the event championship by defeating Dave Richards, John Force, Chad Green, and Alexis DeJoria. In the previous event at Epping, he qualified 12th and reached the quarterfinals.

Returning to Thunder Valley as the twice-defending Funny Car event champion, Capps is seeking his third consecutive win at Bristol Dragway. He also holds the track’s Funny Car E.T. record, set in 2016 with a 3.884-second pass.

“There are certain tracks where every season, we just seem to do well at, and Bristol is one of those tracks for our NAPA AutoCare team,” said Capps. “Since the inception of the dragstrip and being moved and what they’ve done, going there every year is something we always look forward to. It’s definitely one of the highlights of our tour. We get a lot of our NASCAR friends that come out to this track, a lot of great fans in the area, and we have the big fanfest on Saturday night.

“Right now, I’m especially happy to see Bristol come up on our schedule. We need a race win pretty good right now, and the weather looks like it’s going to be fast. The track did a lot of work to take out some of the bumps that were there in the past, so I’m looking forward to this being a good weekend for our NAPA team,” he added.

Fans can meet Ron Capps during the Team Toyota autograph session at the Toyota Racing Experience midway on Saturday from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. and at the Bristol Dragway Fanfest in Nitro Alley after Q4.
