Defending Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals Champion and four-time NHRA Competition Eliminator Champion Bruno Massel heads to Brainerd this weekend with support from Outlaw Mile Hi Lite Beer.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Outlaw Beer, and what better race to do it at than Brainerd! I’ve been a fan of Outlaw Beer since my buddy Mark Stockseth introduced me to it at the Chicago race,” said Massel. “Mark was the one who got me back into a Pro Stock car in ‘21 and ’22 and was the one who put this deal together.”
Bruno has been sidelined the majority of the season and this partnership will allow him to compete once again at his favorite track, Brainerd International Raceway (BIR).
“I’ve been coming to Brainerd since the inaugural Northstar Nationals back in the early ‘80s. My dad raced super gas back than and it was like the annual family trip before school started. I’ve had my fair share of success at BIR over the years, winning three national events, but it’s more than that. It’s just a great atmosphere and then you throw in the shenanigans that take place in the Zoo, it’s a no brainer,” stated Massel laughingly.
Speaking of the Zoo, it’s the perfect place to showcase and sample Outlaw Mile Hi Lite Beer as they will have a number of promotions taking place throughout the weekend.
The partnership between Massel and Outlaw Beer will extend to the NHRA U.S. Nationals as Massel looks to find some of the Indy magic he experienced a decade ago.
“In 2014, I was able to bring home the first win for a COPO Camaro at the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U..S Nationals. There were 187 cars entered that year, and to be the last man standing was pretty incredible!” added Massel.
This year, Toyota is the title sponsor of the event and Massel being the only driver to win an NHRA National event with a Toyota-powered vehicle, would make a second U.S. Nationals Wally even more special. “My ultimate goal would be to hand Mark that Indy trophy! To be able to give back to the guy who allowed me to live out my dream of driving a Pro Stock car would be amazing!”
“I’m thrilled to be able to compete at these next two events and be partnered with a brand that I’m such a fan of,” added Massel. “We have a car that can run at the front of the pack, so It’s been hard to sit on the sidelines. I’m just grateful for the opportunity that Outlaw Beer is giving me. Outlaw Beer is growing in leaps and bounds, and I’m proud to be a part of it!”
