Shawn Reed, driver of the Reed Trucking & Excavating Top Fuel Dragster, heads into the prestigious 65th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip aiming to build momentum in the early stages of the 2024 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.
Coming off an eighth-place qualifying effort at Phoenix, Reed is confident in his team’s potential despite an early exit there against Tony Stewart. He views Pomona as an opportunity to reset and drive toward a successful stretch in the series.
“Going into Pomona, I reminded the guys that this is a marathon and not a sprint,” Reed said. “Our time is coming; we are too good of a team, and we are too determined. We will achieve success, it’s just a matter of time. And I say, let’s start in Pomona and follow it up in Vegas and have a nice swing outing to put us right back in the middle of this early points chase.”
Pomona will be Reed’s second event featuring new associate partner ATRO Parts, who debuted on the car in Phoenix. Reed and the team are eager to deliver strong results and showcase their commitment to excellence at one of drag racing’s most historic venues.
Qualifying begins Friday, and Reed looks forward to securing a competitive spot in the field before eliminations commence on Sunday.
