Six-time and reigning NHRA Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson appears on the cover of Drag Illustrated’s new State of Drag Issue, which was released in digital form on Monday night. The September/October issue is the magazine’s annual deep dive into some of the hottest topics and biggest trends in the sport, from the spotlight of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series to the grassroots happenings at smalltown dragstrips. Anderson, who won his first NHRA Pro Stock world championship in 2003 and his sixth in 2024, spoke with Drag Illustrated Editor-in-Chief Nate Van Wagnen for the wide-ranging interview that makes up the cover story. Anderson reflects on his career, the evolution of the Pro Stock class, and the impact of the people who’ve surrounded him over the years.
“I don’t know if you ever get used to seeing stories like this written about you and your career, but I’m very proud of what we’ve built here at KB Titan Racing,” Anderson said, “and it’s just really special to be able to talk about it and see it in print in a magazine like Drag Illustrated.”
In addition to six world titles, Anderson hit the 100-win milestone in 2022 and the 1,000-round-win marker in 2024, putting him in an exclusive club with just one other driver, 16-time NHRA Funny Car world champion John Force. Behind the scenes at KB Titan Racing, he’s played a role in the recent revival of Pro Stock and has helped to introduce a growing list of young drivers to the class, including his former crew member, 2021 Rookie of the Year and 2024 championship runner-up Dallas Glenn.
“The term ‘living legend’ is often overused, but it certainly applies when you’re talking about Greg Anderson,” Van Wagnen said. “He’s one of the most accomplished drivers in the history of the sport, but he’s more than just a driver. He learned the ropes from ‘The Professor,’ Warren Johnson, and he’s continued to learn and evolve as a driver, engine builder, mentor, and team leader over the course of a remarkable career. I really enjoyed my conversation with Greg and learned a lot. I hope our readers find the interview just as enlightening as I did.”
