The Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) is proud to announce that John Sears has been named Rules Director for the 2025 season and beyond.

“After long conversations in the off-season and his increasingly busy schedule, Lonnie Grimm and I felt this was a move in the right direction. We want to thank Lonnie for his support and guidance since day one with the series and look forward to seeing him at races across the country,” said series founder Keith Haney

Sears résumé includes overseeing rule sets with classes and events similar to the MWDRS. Additionally, Sears has been involved in drag racing for many years and has a great history of fair and balanced pairings across multiple classes.

Sears’s first order of business is to review the MWDRS current rule set and begin to create a more simplified package from a new perspective. This will include removing unnecessary combos that no longer run the series and implementing changes that could be used by racers from across the country.

“With his work at other events and series, we feel that John will create a balanced and fair package for racers,” added Haney.

“I am excited to be a part of the Mid-West Drag Racing Series in this capacity. With my work on other events and series, I look forward to creating a rules package that provides parity across the board for racers currently in the series, as well as those looking to attend,” Sears said. “The preliminary rules package tightens up a few things, based on my experience at other events, but still provides opportunities for the current racers. With the increased payouts for Pro Mod in 2025, it’s never been more important for everyone to have a fair playing field.”

A preliminary rules package is expected by the end of the first week of 2025, and the full set will be released as soon as possible.
