Mason Wright Secures Congruity Pro Mod Victory at Route 66 NHRA Nationals

Mason Wright and the ProFlow Pumping Solutions team dominated the Congruity NHRA Pro Modified class at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway, ending the weekend with the second win of Wright’s career.

In the finals, Wright squared up with J.R. Gray for the third time in their careers, first time in a final round. Wright had the race won on the starting line after Gray went -.014 red on the tree. Wright would cross the finish line at 5.734 seconds and 251.25 mph.

“You can’t take any of these teams lightly. My team carried me the whole way today,” Wright said. “I did not do my job on the starting line on any pass, so the team deserves all of this. They won this race, this is for them. This class is stacked. We have to come back stronger, but it’s awesome to have a team like we do. I have to thank all my sponsors: ProFlow Pumping Solutions, this is their home race. I can’t forget my family, they’re at home. My daughter is going to be really excited.”

Wright entered eliminations from the No. 1 qualifying spot with a 5.676-second pass at 253.66 mph to face Chip King in the first round. Wright laid down a 5.709 pass at 251.53 mph to better Kin’s 5.719 at 252.76. In round two, Wirght lined up with Mike Stavrinos and stayed consistent with a 5.701 pass, the lowest elapsed time of the round, at 252.38 that took down Stavrinos’ 5.730 at 252.95.

In the semifinals, Wright raced against Ken Quartuccio. Quartuccio had the starting line advantage but drove into tire shake to go 6.115 seconds at 200.05 mph. Wright had a clean pass at 5.712 and 252.43 for the win.

Wright will next head to the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee, June 6-8.
