Kevin Pruett captured the first of two $75,000 purses on the combined Advanced Product Design and ATI Performance Products Friday at the RAD Torque Systems Fall Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries at Bristol Dragway where 418 single-entered drivers staged up for round one.

The Chevy II Wagon of Kevin Pruett from Appling, GA put together .018 total in the final over the dragster of Matt Schapiro from Tabernacle, NJ. Pruett’s .012 and dead-on six lap carried him to his first-ever Fling event win, putting him at the top of the leaderboard for the Robco Residential Fall Fling Points Championship going into the next $75K main event.

In the semifinals, multi-time event winner Jeremy York fouled out with a .009 redlight against the .013 reaction of Schapiro. Pruett took the green on his bye run.

The ladder round was split between three door cars and three dragsters including Greg Brown, Gage Burch, Lane Dicken, Jeremy York, Matt Shapiro, and Kevin Pruett. Burch turned it just .001 red and ran dead-on four to bow out against Shapiro, while York was .009 and .015 above for the win over the .007 and one-thousandth under of Brown. To finish out the quarterfinals, Pruett was .006 total getting to the stripe first by .004 to advance past the .011 and .001 under the dial of Dicken.

Saturday kicked off the second $75,000 main event presented by Trailer Ranch and JEGS Performance where an extended weather delay moved the remainder of eliminations to Sunday. Catch the action live exclusively on the @RaceTheFlings YouTube courtesy of JEGS Performance and Mickey Thompson.
