Justin Ashley, SCAG Toyota Team Focused on Forward Progress at Gatornationals

Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team are eager to kick-off their 2025 Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series season at this weekend’s Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.

Ashley finished the 2024 NHRA season third in the championship points standings with four wins in six final round appearances. He led the Top Fuel class for seven races, including heading into the NHRA Finals, and scored his sixth career No. 1 qualifying position. The SCAG Toyota team is hoping to take that success and momentum and carry it right over the 2025 season starting with the historic Gatornationals.

“This is one of my favorite times of the year. I loved everything we accomplished last season as a team and think back with so much appreciation for the journey. But now it’s time to officially put it in the rear-view mirror,” Ashley said. “Thanks to SCAG and the SCAG Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout, we are fortunate to have made more laps than ever before heading into the start of an NHRA season.”

Ashley and the SCAG team qualified fourth at the specialty SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout event and made it to the semifinals. They’ll take what they learned and hope to improve on their No. 8 qualifying position and quarterfinal exit from the 2024 Gatornationals.

“We feel good about the things we learned and are now focused on applying it moving forward. Gainesville is a prestigious race, one that’s highly attended, and includes the All-Star Callout, so we’ll have to come with our A-game,” said Ashley who qualified for the Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout on Saturday. “I am looking forward to another great season with our SCAG Power Equipment Toyota team.”

The Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals weekend starts with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 2 and 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to being Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) with a qualifying show Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and eliminations Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET. A special Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout show will air at 9 p.m. ET.
