Jon Corbin dominated the final day at the RAD Torque Systems Fall Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries at Bristol Dragway to secure the Trailer Ranch/JEGS Performance $75,000 purse and clinch the Robco Residential Fall Fling Points Championship by three rounds.

The 1968 Firebird came out on top in the door car versus dragster final round with Jon Corbin from Waynesboro, VA putting together .015 total for the win over the 2017 Racecraft dragster of Austin Johnson from Pearisburg, VA. Corbin was also crowned the Robco Residential Points Champion, earning a Biondo trophy shifter, custom epoxy plaque, champion trophy, and $3,000 bonus!

Tensions were high in the semifinal round with $75,000 on the line and the three remaining drivers were all within reach of the points championship title. Jon Corbin and Dale West both completed their burnouts but West was unable to get the dragster to reverse past the tree. With help from the track crew, West was pushed back and allowed to stage up under his own power. Corbin was perfect at the hit and ran dead-on the 5.91 dial with a one to put together a .001 package while West was unable to make a clean pass. On his solo trip down the track, Austin Johnson was .016 total.

The ladder was set at six cars including Robert Hefti, Jon Corbin, Austin Johnson, Brittanie Ulmer, Brandon Jarrell, and Dale West. Ulmer had a .015 advantage on the tree over Johnson, but Johnson got to the finish line by .010 to run dead-on one for the win. Corbin and Hefti were separated by .004 on the starting line and by a .0005 margin at the stripe, Corbin advanced. Jarrell was .005 to the .007 reaction time of West, but ran it down to break out by just one-thousandth for the loss.

The final event of the Fling Race Series season will take place at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC for the JEGS Performance Door Car Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries. Entries will be sold at the gate and doubles will be permitted — for door cars only! Catch the action live exclusively on the @RaceTheFlings YouTube October 15-19.
