Arizona has long been known as Fuel Altered country, and one of the serious players in that decades-long tradition, Johnny West, has been announced as the Grand Marshal for what just might be the biggest Fuel Altered race in history. The highly anticipated Inaugural Fuel Altered Chaos is set for next weekend, November 14-15 at Tucson Dragway.
West, a long-time Phoenix area businessman, will not only serve as the Grand Marshal for the race, he’ll also be strapping into his own “Plan A” AA/Fuel Altered and competing for his share of the tens of thousands of dollars in prize money posted for this event.
“We’ve built and raced and consulted on Fuel Altereds for a long time because we’ve found them to be a good way to experience all the excitement, speed, and competition of top-tier drag racing without some of the labor of other types of cars, so the fun factor is still there, ” said West.
West just tuned his car to the winner’s circle at the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield with Australian Greg Leahy behind the wheel last month, so the winning and the fun are still going on.
“This Fuel Altered Chaos event in Tucson has created a ton of buzz and we’ve got teams coming from coast to coast. We are honored to have Johnny West and so many other historic names ready to rumble at the CHAOS,” said Funny Car Chaos Founder, Chris Graves. “Having Johnny West as our Grand Marshal is something special to Tera and I since we’ve been watching Johnny’s innovation and expertise positively impact drag racing for decades.”
More than three dozen Altereds of all kinds will be competing in Fuel Altered Chaos along with the Arizona Drag Racing Association, the Outlaw Gassers of Southern California, Uncle Dan’s Tri-Five Shootout, and the “Wicked Sinsation” Jet Dragster.
