Elrod Continues Winning Ways at IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Pro-Am at Milan

Jacob Elrod was racing in a different class, but was still class of the field at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Pro-Am at Darana Dragway.

Elrod won the Top Sportsman race Thursday at the Michigan drag strip with the event streamed live on IHRA.TV. Jacob, the son of IHRA Hall of Famer Dave Elrod, won the Super Rod class at the Pro-Am opener two weeks ago in Hebron, Ohio.

This time around, Elrod had a solid .016 start in Top Sportsman while final-round opponent James Hayes was -.007 too quick at the tree. Elrod’s Corvette went down the track in 4.580 seconds at 148.61 mph on a 4.54 dial-in. Hayes had a 4.654-second elapsed time at 144.88 mph.

Alan O’Brien was the Top Dragster winner when Matthew Albright’s car shut off at the starting tree. With the race in hand, O’Brien posted a 4.221-second run at 138.29 mph combined with a .212 reaction time.

Tisha Wilson was near perfect at the start in Quick Rod as she posted a .002 reaction time. Wilson’s final numbers included an 8.895 elapsed time at 180.51 mph. Pat DeRottis was very good at the tree with a .013 start and then ran 8.886 seconds at 183.37 mph.

Super Rod saw Steve Hoyt pick up the victory as Paul Richardson’s car ran back out of the beams. He bumped it back in, but didn’t get it set. It allowed Hoyt to have a winning pass of 11.333 seconds at 107.71 mph after a .433 reaction time. Richardson made his way down track in 12.695 seconds at 84.30 mph.

Kenny Underwood picked up his second win of the season in Hot Rod. The Indiana racer got off the line with a .019 start and then went 10.910 seconds against the 10.90 Index. Runner-up Bill Edwards finished in 10.895 seconds at 132.59 mph after a .034 reaction time.

Chris Lozon made it down the drag strip in 9.863 seconds and 132.90 mph on a 9.86 dial-in to take the Super Stock win. Matt Dadas broke out from his 9.96 dial with a 9.941-second run at 130.40 mph. Lozon had the .021 to .034 advantage at the starting tree.

Steven Dziomy picked up the Stock win with a .035 to .066 holeshot against Bobby Lundholm. Dziomy’s winning package included an 11.970-second run at 106.31 mph against an 11.95 dial. Lundholm posted an 11.377-second pass at 115.33 mph on an 11.35 dial-in.
