Elite Motorsports Exits Ohio with Pair of Quarterfinal Finishes

Elite Motorsports closed out the first half of the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series schedule Sunday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Aaron Stanfield in the Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage / Melling Performance car and his father, Greg Stanfield, who drives the Janac Brothers Racing / The Rod Shop machine, each made quarterfinal appearances to lead the five-car Elite Motorsports stable.

Aaron, who qualified No. 8, started race day with a first-round victory against teammate and six-time world champion Erica Enders in her JHG / Melling / SCAG Power Equipment Camaro. Aaron left the starting line first with a .028 reaction time and 6.633-second pass at 206.45 mph that was enough to take down Enders’ .053 reaction time, 6.619 pass at 206.04 on a holeshot.

In the second round, Aaron faced off with six-time world champion and team rival Greg Anderson. Aaron had the advantage from the start but was chased down by Anderson who got the win at the stripe. Aaron ran 6.594 seconds at 207.94 mph while Anderson had a 6.594 pass at 207.27.

Greg entered the day leading Elite Motorsports in the No. 4 qualifying position and faced Mason McGaha first round. Greg had the starting line advantage and never trailed for a 6.612-second pass at 206.61 mph to McGaha’s 6.641 at 207.37.

Greg stayed consistent on the starting line leaving first against Cory Reed, but the Janac Brothers / The Rod Shop machine rattled the tires and slowed to a 6.689-second pass at 206.45 mph that was bettered by Reed’s 6.622 at 207.75.

The NHRA Mission Foods Pro Stock season continues with the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington just outside of Seattle, July 18-20.
