Dustin Smiley Captures Fuel Factory $25K at JEGS Door Car Fling

Dustin Smiley continued his winning streak at the Fling events at GALOT Motorsports Park after capturing the Fuel Factory Friday $25,000 purse at the JEGS Performance Door Car Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries.

Dustin Smiley and Jeff Verdi, neither a stranger to success at the Flings, outlasted 353 entries to face off in the all-Pontiac final round. Verdi from Glen Allen, VA in his ‘66 GTO turned it just one thousandth red to the .015 reaction time of Smiley’s Grand Prix out of Piedmont, SC. The $25K big check makes for a win at each of the last three Fling events at GALOT for Smiley, following a $50K victory this spring and $15K in 2024.

At four cars Jeff Verdi’s total package locked out the ‘68 Camaro of Greg Walker from Clinton, MD while Dustin Smiley was .007 and .012 above the dial to the .003 and eight thousandths breakout of Dakota Pugh in the Camaro from Crossville, TN.

Kevin Pollard, Dakota Pugh, Shannon Joseph, Jeff Verdi, Dustin Smiley, Cody Heidt, Tim Phipps, and Greg Walker were the eight remaining drivers at the ladder round. Pugh was .003 behind at the starting line but took .012 at the stripe to be dead-on with a six over Pollard, while Joseph fouled out by .007 against Verdi. Smiley used his advantage on the tree to take six thousandths at the finish line to eliminate Heidt, and Walker put together .006 total to advance past Phipps.
