Douthit Motor Sports is gearing up for an unforgettable 2025 season, marking 40 years of electrifying fans worldwide with their jet-powered cars. The milestone also commemorates 49 years of thrilling exhibition performances, solidifying their reputation as pioneers in motorsport entertainment.

As part of their 40th-anniversary celebration, Douthit Motor Sports is excited to announce the debut of two additional jet funny cars, expanding their fleet to an impressive lineup of four. Known as the “Four for 40,” the fleet includes:

  • The Black Pearl – A striking 1969 Chevy Camaro.
  • The Quartermaster – A classic 1965 Ford Mustang.
  • PT the Pirate – The world’s only jet-powered PT Cruiser.
  • The Pirate’s Payday – A sleek 2009 Ford Mustang.

Driver announcements for these flame-throwing machines are expected soon.

The story of Douthit Motor Sports began in 1976 in California when Smokey Joe and Carol Douthit introduced audiences to “Smokey Red,” a wheelstanding 1968 Nova. In 1985, they shifted gears to jet-powered vehicles, launching a new era of exhibition racing that has captivated fans for decades.

Today, the legacy lives on through their son, David, his wife, Robyn, and their daughters. However, Smokey Joe and Carol remain deeply involved and will be making appearances at the track in 2025, continuing their hands-on approach to the sport they love.

Stay tuned for more announcements as Douthit Motor Sports prepares to hit the track for their most exciting season yet. See you at the races!
