Cruz Pedregon, two-time Funny Car World Champion, is looking to build off the momentum they picked up in Las Vegas during testing after the Las Vegas 4-Wide Nationals.
Pedregon, who famously clinched his 36th career victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte in 2018, surpassing the legendary Don Prudhomme in all-time wins, is keen to replicate his past success.
Reflecting on his preparation, Cruz shared, “We made a test run Monday in Las Vegas after the race. With that run, we learned what we needed to learn, and we’re ready to go to Charlotte. The car ran a 3.98, which was in line with what all the top cars were running last weekend. We made adjustments to the clutch, and the car made a flawless run. We’re looking ahead now and are ready to go for Charlotte.”
Under the leadership of Crew Chief Jason Bunker and Assistant Crew Chief Johnny West, the team has demonstrated remarkable progress this season. “We’ve qualified in the top half in three of the four events so far this year, which shows we’re connecting and making improvements as a team,” Cruz added.
This year’s race is particularly special for the Snap-on team, as the name of Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Steven Ward will be featured on the side of Cruz’s Dodge®. It’s a thrilling first for Ward, who will be meeting Cruz in person and watching the race alongside several of his regular customers. This initiative is part of Snap-on’s effort to engage NHRA fans and celebrate the community of makers and fixers who embody the spirit of innovation and hard work.
