Day four of the Summit Racing Equipment Fling at Norwalk presented by Total Seal Piston Rings at Summit Motorsports Park saw 430 racers ready for their shot at the ATI Performance Products $50,000 purse on the line.

In Laris Motorsports Insurance No-Box, Jaeden Durst went back-to-back and secured the win once again on ATI Saturday over Jordan Freshour. Durst was .008 and took .004 to be .017 above to collect the $2,000 bonus and another champion trophy to maintain his lead in the No-Box Points Chase.

The six drivers that outlasted the box field to make the ladder included Howard Westbury, Donovan Williams, Kayleigh May, Jason Jensen, Glenn Ferguson Jr., and Corey Hansen. Williams laid down .004 total to eliminate Westbury, while May fouled out by .002 to the .013 and dead-on lap of Jensen. Hansen used a .012 advantage off the starting line to advance past Ferguson.

In the semifinals, Hansen ran dead-on with a zero to knock out Jensen who ended up eight thousandths behind at the finish line, while Williams took his solo trip down the track after letting go .017.

It would be Williams’ fourth Fling main event final round and a first for Hansen. By .002 at the finish line, the leafsprung ‘64 Chevy II Wagon of Hansen collected the ATI Performance Products Saturday $50,000 big check. Wounding his motor just a few weeks earlier, Hansen nearly sold his entry to the event but was able to get the wagon back together and outlast the field to win one of the highest paying races of the weekend.

Function Enterprises Inc. $30,000 Sunday will start at 8 a.m. sharp with the Fling Reaction Time Challenge where 25 drivers were randomly selected to make a hit at the tree and collect $100-$10,000 cash for double “O” and perfect lights. The Brodix Run for the SR20 Cylinder Heads Shootout will immediately follow. Round 1 of the $30K event will start at 8:30 a.m. Race fans will be able to catch all of the action live exclusively on the @RaceTheFlings YouTube courtesy of Moser Engineering.
