Bartone Bros. Racing Win Top Alcohol Funny Car at Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire

Bartone Bros. Racing won Top Alcohol Funny Car (TAFC) at the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire run at Summit Motorsports Park.

Sean Bellemeur and the Killer B’s battled the heavy air all day to line the Pirate Ship up against Chris Foster in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final. Bellemeur drove to a time of 5.53 and 264 MPH to take the Wally. The heavy air didn’t allow Steve Boggs (tuner) to get close to the TAFC track record of 5.393 and 269 MPH that the team set in early June.

The win gives the Killer B’s a clean sweep of Ohio events, winning four, three of which at Summit Motorsports Park:

  • WON 18th Annual University Hospitals Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser at Summit Motorsports Park, set TAFC track record with a pass of 5.393 and 269 MPH
  • WON 18th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park
  • WON JEGS SPEEDWeek NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at National Trail Raceway
  • WON Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park

“Four for four we swept Ohio,” Bellemeur said. “The plan all along was to run as much here as we could, because we knew Boggs’ history running in these conditions. You hope for the best every weekend, but four for four is tough with the level of competition out here. We have a perfect claim on the region, which is huge. We knocked out some point contenders along the way, which is also huge. We are on the tail end of our summer swing and we are ready to focus on the second half of the season and try to win us another world championship.

“Taking a win away from the Night Under Fire here in Norwalk for the first time is really special. As a California kid I only heard of this place. I dreamt of coming here, let alone race it, and win it.

“Another great team win. I have the greatest group behind me, assembled by Tony Bartone. We have Steve Boggs, Troy Green, Nick Stoms, Justin Taylor, Garret Bateman, Seth Shebester, and Matt Krebs making the Pirate Ship get down the track and into victory lane.”

The team will return to action in two weeks for the 42nd Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals to run at Brainerd International Raceway, Aug. 15-18.

The team would like to thank team sponsors Red Line Synthetic Oil, Roger Dean Chevrolet, Talon Air LLC, NGK Spark Plugs, and Mastercam along with product sponsors Simpson Performance Products and Taylor Motorsports Products.
