In advance of the 39th annual Texas NHRA Fall Nationals Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull will catch up with NHRA Funny Car point leader Austin Prock on Wednesday, October 2 at 8 pm. EDT and 8 p.m. PDT. During the show Prock talks about his early days racing sprint cars for now NHRA superstar Tony Stewart as well as how his career as a chef has benefitted him behind the wheel of the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car. The interview-style program, hosted by Funny Car driver Hull is the latest original series added to the NHRA’s 24/7 digital channel which is available on 13 platforms including the Roku Channel (USA & Canada), Tubi, Samsung TV Plus, Sling Freestream, and others. Interested viewers can search NHRA and select the LIVE option on any of these platforms.
“Getting to talk with Austin and hear about his early racing career was really special,” said Hull. “Austin has taken the Funny Car class by storm, and he is on a record pace this season. It was great to talk with him more in-depth about racing with his dad and brother as well as getting his insight on driving these 11,000-horsepower animals.”
The Prock episode was shot in the Turn 11 event center during the Sonoma Nationals at the end of July. Prock and Hull exchanged several stories on how they have approached their respective rookie seasons behind the wheel of a nitro Funny Car coming over from racing Top Fuel dragsters. The duo also touched on the almost serene atmosphere of the cockpit moments before they hit the starting line stripe.
“We have done a number of episodes of the show and every one is a little different,” said Hull. “I love that we are giving guys the chance to tell stories and highlight what is so cool about racing Funny Cars. Austin was a great guest and I think people will enjoy hearing what he has to say about his first year driving a nitro Funny Car.
Future episodes will include sit downs with Matt Hagan and J.R. Todd. Each episode will be a free-for-all of conversation with the one constant being the Funny Car Fast Five segment, a rapid-fire Q&A getting thoughts and opinions from each guest in quick succession.
Following the original broadcast of each episode of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull, the show will go into programming rotation on the NHRA FAST Channel. Future new episodes will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST and 8 p.m. PST leading up to select NHRA national events for the rest of the 2024 season.
