The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series announced today that the Race Star Wheels Top Dragster Presented by UEM Pistons and Compressed Air Supercharging Top Sportsman will change to an all-run format up to 32 cars for eliminations beginning at the Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan. This change is aimed at letting all racers both local and who travel with the series see rounds of elimination and an opportunity to race for the winner’s purse.
This announcement comes in conjunction with an increased purse for US 131 Motorsports Park. The prize money comes courtesy of the Peterson family and the MWDRS, with additional dollars going to the winners of Pro Mod Slammers, Compressed Air Supercharging Top Sportsman, Race Star Wheels Top Dragster, and both Junior classes. The increase will see an additional $2,000 to Pro Mod Slammers, $1,000 each to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, and $250 each to Junior Sportsman and Junior Pro, all of which are guaranteed.
Racers must still meet the required maximum dial-ins: 5.29 for Top Sportsman, and 4.99 for Top Dragster.
“We are a race series for everyone,” said series announcer Luke Clevenger. “This is a great opportunity for every racer to run for the cash. If your car meets the minimum dial and passes tech, you get to prove yourself at the tree and on the track.”
