In their first two events of 2026, Small Tire Pro Stock racers showed strength and steadiness with fast and fit cars that muscleto mid-7s and low 8s in the quarter-mile without the push of power-adders.
Jeff Ikard jetted to the Small Tire Pro Stock winner’s circle at the Nostalgia Drag Racing League Route 66 Rockabilly Reunionin May at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois, and Dwight Ausmus, David Theisen, Rob Ingles and David Murray soared to the semifinal before rain brought an early end to the Nostalgia Drag Racing League Hot Rod Nationals presented by Ray Skillman in early July at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indiana. Those four racers will run off later this year.
That momentum will serve as motivation as Small Tire Pro Stock racers set their sights on joining NHRA North Central Division 3 racers for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Summernationals, Aug. 7-9, 2026, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
“We recently welcomed several more racers to Small Tire Pro Stock, and we are expecting others who are finishing their cars and combinations,” said Dwight Ausmus, Small Tire Pro Stock racer and steering committee member. “We will be racing for a chance to win an NHRA Wally trophy at this event, and that is something all racers dream of. It is an opportunity of a lifetime. There is a lot of interest in this class, and that inspires each of us to ensure it continues to grow and go forward for years to come.”
At the venue known as America’s Great Race Place, Small Tire Pro Stock racers will share the track surface with Super Street, Super Comp, Stock, Super Stock, Super Gas, Comp, Oakley Motorsports Top Dragster and Oakley Motorsports Top Sportsman racers.
“Small Tire Pro Stock racers felt at home at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park with Rollie Miller and his team in early July, and we can’t wait to return in August,” said David Theisen, Small Tire Pro Stock racer and steering committee member. “There is a lot of history there, and we are happy to join in the 75th anniversary of NHRA and race for an NHRA Wally trophy.”
