SCAG Racing to Bring Top Fuel & Funny Car Firepower to Night Under Fire Extravaganza

SCAG Racing drivers Justin Ashley, Daniel Wilkerson, and Dave Richards are set to electrify the crowd at the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park this weekend.

The star-studded event, renowned for its high-energy racing and spectacular post-race fireworks, will feature Ashley in his SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster, Wilkerson in his SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car, and Richards in his BlueBird Turf / Versatran Ford Mustang Funny Car, all aiming to thrill nearly 40,000 fans while fine-tuning their programs for the continuation of the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Justin Ashley, currently third in the NHRA Top Fuel points with two wins in five final round appearances, including the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals competed at Summit Motorsports Park just a month ago, is no stranger to Night Under Fire’s electric atmosphere.

“We had the opportunity to participate in the Night Under Fire in 2021, and I very much look forward to doing it again,” Ashley said. “It’s an honor to be included in an event that has a reputation for being one of the greatest spectacles in all of drag racing. Our goal is to put on an outstanding show for the fans while also gathering more data that can help us during the rest of the NHRA season.”

Daniel Wilkerson, sitting seventh in Funny Car points with a final-round appearance at the Winternationals and two Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge wins including one at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park just a month ago, holds a special connection to the event.

“The third run I ever made in a nitro Funny Car was at the Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park,” Wilkerson said. “This race is special to me because I’ve done more of these events than any other in my career. To get to share that with my SCAG Power Equipment teammates this weekend is something I am very excited for.”

Dave Richards, sitting 13th in Funny Car points, is making his Night Under Fire debut after a season of steady progress, including a career-best speed of 325.61 mph from the most recent NHRA Sonoma Nationals in Northern California.

“I have never participated or been to Night Under Fire. I, like so many others, have heard amazing things about it,” Richards said. “I’m excited to see what it’s all about and feel privileged that this BlueBird Turf team are able to be part of the show. We’re looking forward to getting a few laps in that we’ll certainly be able to learn from for the rest of the NHRA season and hopefully we get some of our recent gremlins 100% resolved while putting on a good show.”

With the Bader family’s renowned hospitality and a packed crowd, SCAG Racing is ready to deliver a memorable performance under the lights at Summit Motorsports Park. Night Under Fire is a two-day event with the nitro teams scheduled to make laps throughout Saturday starting at noon.
