Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Signs On as Presenting Sponsor of Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout

Support for the inaugural Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout continues to build, as race officials announced today the addition of Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage (JHG) as the event’s presenting sponsor. The Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout presented by JHG, February 8-10, 2024, will bring the stars of Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock to Bradenton Motorsports Park for a one-of-a-kind shootout paying out more than $1.3 million.

“We’re proud to welcome Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage into the fold as the presenting sponsor of the Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout,” said Alan Johnson, president, Professional Racers Owners Organization (PRO). “Jason Johnson has already made substantial investments in the sport through his support of several teams, and it’s obvious he’s passionate about drag racing. Everyone involved with this event is certainly grateful to have Jason and the JHG team on board.”

Founded by longtime automotive enthusiast Jason Johnson, JHG aims to inspire, drive, and celebrate progress. The JHG collection features more than 150 rare and unique vehicles, from classic muscle cars and hot rods to modern supercars. The company is building a state-of-the-art dealership in Columbia, Tennessee. JHG is the primary sponsor for NHRA Pro Stock world champions Erica Enders and Bo Butner. JHG branding has also appeared on multi-time world champion Matt Hagan’s Funny Car.

“I’m excited because it’s taking the sport and making it an event,” Jason Johnson said. “It shouldn’t just be a race. It should be an event. It shouldn’t be that the race is over, now go home. It’s a showcase that elevates the sport to a higher level. Because that’s where it belongs.”

The Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout presented by JHG is a collaborative effort by PRO, Drag Illustrated, Bradenton Motorsports Park, and the official livestreaming partner, FloRacing. The event format will have unique elements, like random chip draws to determine pairings in eliminations. The prize money is unprecedented, with $250,000 going to the winners in Top Fuel and Funny Car, and $125,000 for the winner in Pro Stock. Invitations were extended to 13 teams in both Top Fuel and Funny Car, while the current Pro Stock invite list is up to 19 drivers. Invitees will get four qualifying sessions to qualify for the eight-car fields in Top Fuel and Funny Car and the 16-car field in Pro Stock.

“This event is going to be one-of-a-kind, and we need one-of-a-kind partners,” said Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated founder and PRO Superstar Shootout promoter. “Jason Johnson and the Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage team definitely fit the bill. They’re infinitely passionate about this sport. JHG is a big supporter of several of the teams competing in this race, and we’re thrilled that they’re going to join us for a game-changing weekend of drag racing at Bradenton Motorsports Park.”

The Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout presented by JHG will kick off with one qualifying session under the lights on Thursday, February 8. Three more qualifying sessions will take place on Friday, February 9. Eliminations will run on Saturday, February 10.
