Storylines
Twenty years deep at Norwalk and the layers keep getting denser. NHRA’s 10th race of 2026 brings four defending winners back to defend, a Saturday Pro Stock spectacle that didn’t exist a year ago, and a championship picture that’s tightening at the halfway mark of the season.
Ashley returns to defend Top Fuel
Justin Ashley took the Top Fuel Wally at Norwalk in 2025 and arrives this weekend with the chance to repeat at a track that’s produced Brittany Force’s 3.666 ET record (June 2022) and Doug Kalitta’s 337.16 mph mark (June 2024). The Norwalk surface has been good for the Top Fuel field for two decades. Ashley will need to be sharp to hold off Antron Brown, the active-driver leader with two Norwalk wins.
Prock defends Funny Car at the track he owns
Austin Prock isn’t just the defending Norwalk Funny Car winner – he’s back to defend it from a new seat, having moved to Tasca Racing for 2026. He owns the Norwalk track record (3.853, June 2024) and the NHRA national mile-per-hour record (341.68 mph, Pomona, November 2024). Prock is the prohibitive favorite to repeat. The question is who can challenge – Jack Beckman has three Norwalk wins to his name, the most among active Funny Car drivers, and Bob Tasca III holds the Norwalk top-speed mark at 336.82 mph from June 2024.
Anderson holds the cards in the GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout
This is the Saturday spectacle, and Greg Anderson gets to play kingmaker. The six-time Pro Stock world champion leads the points in his HendrickCars.com Camaro, won the 2024 Callout, and as the top seed he gets first pick of the eight-car field when the selections are made Friday at 3 p.m. The bracket sets Anderson’s KB Titan camp against their longtime Elite Motorsports rivals: reigning champ Dallas Glenn, last year’s Callout winner Matt Hartford, six-time champ Erica Enders, Chicago winner Aaron Stanfield, five-time champ Jeg Coughlin, Greg Stanfield and Eric Latino.
Anderson isn’t hiding what makes it fun. The Callout, he says, is the one race where “any grudges you have against any other racer, you get to act on,” a format that “adds another layer of excitement that we don’t get at national events.” As for who goes first off his board, he’s keeping it in his pocket: “I know who I’m going to pick, and we’ll find out on Friday. It will be fun. May the best person win,” says Anderson.
The bracket runs three rounds Saturday – first round at 11:30 a.m., semifinals at 1:15 p.m., final at 4 p.m. – with FS1 carrying an hour of Callout coverage Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. Anderson is also chasing a fourth career Norwalk Wally, and the spoils here run richer than most: every Summit Motorsports Park winner hauls off a billet aluminum ice cream scoop, a longtime Bader-family tradition, right alongside the Diamond Wally. Cory Reed won the regular Pro Stock Wally at Norwalk in 2025.
And the Callout belonged to Dallas Glenn. The reigning Pro Stock world champion ran the table Saturday – past Jeg Coughlin, then Aaron Stanfield, and finally Matt Hartford, who fouled at the stripe in the final – to take the GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout. Anderson, the man with first pick, came up short of the final.
Pro Mod gets four qualifying shots
The JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports gets a full four qualifying sessions over Friday and Saturday (4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday) before Sunday eliminations. With the field stacked at the top of the season and parity arguments running hot across the Pro Mod world, every session matters. The Norwalk Pro Mod call sheet has historically been one of the season’s deepest.
PSM: Hall defends, Smith has the wins, Herrera owns the records
John Hall took the Pro Stock Motorcycle Wally at Norwalk in 2025. Matt Smith leads active riders with three Norwalk wins. Gaige Herrera holds the Norwalk PSM track record (6.698, June 2024) and the NHRA national PSM ET mark (6.627, Dallas, October 2023). When the Pro Stock Motorcycle field stages on Sunday, three of the sport’s brightest names will be hunting the same trophy.
The championship picture at the halfway mark
Norwalk is the turn at the midpoint, and the four pro classes arrive in very different postures. In Top Fuel, Shawn Langdon is the dominant points leader with four wins in 2026, while Justin Ashley is still chasing his first of the year and Antron Brown rolls in fresh off his Bristol victory. Funny Car belongs to Ron Capps at the top of the standings, with Bristol winner Matt Hagan, Epping winner Jack Beckman and the Tasca-bound Prock all circling. Anderson leads Pro Stock over reigning champ Dallas Glenn and Bristol winner Matt Hartford. And in Pro Stock Motorcycle, reigning world champion Richard Gadson carries the points lead into a class where Hall, Smith and Herrera are all live. There’s bonus money on the table too: the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge runs in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Hagan eats the competition
Matt Hagan spends most weekends doing his winning in an 11,000-horsepower Funny Car. At Norwalk, he picked up a different kind of trophy. The veteran Funny Car star won the Summit Motorsports Park ice cream eating contest, dethroning three-time defending champion – and Pro Stock Motorcycle racer – Jianna Evaristo. Only fitting at the one track that sends its race winners home with a billet aluminum ice cream scoop.
It has become one of the Summit Motorsports Park weekend’s favorite off-track traditions, and the 2026 edition didn’t disappoint – a table full of racers, spoons flying and Velvet ice cream everywhere. When the cups were clean, it was Hagan standing on top, ending the three-year reign of Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Jianna Evaristo.
Qualifying
Final qualifying order, set Saturday after four sessions. These are the fields for Sunday eliminations.
Shawn Langdon locked up the Top Fuel No. 1 at 3.695, Austin Prock topped Funny Car at 3.863 in the Tasca Mustang, Greg Anderson held the Pro Stock pole at 6.550, Gaige Herrera led Pro Stock Motorcycle at 6.768, and Mike Stavrinos paced a stacked Pro Mod field at 5.654.

Top Fuel – Maddi Gordon
Maddi Gordon is a Top Fuel winner. Gordon ran the table at Norwalk, beating Spencer Massey, Tony Stewart and Shawn Langdon before driving around Antron Brown in the final, 3.786 to 3.840, for the Wally. Defending Norwalk winner Justin Ashley went out in round one against Stewart.
Funny Car – Ron Capps
Ron Capps took Funny Car, running down Jack Beckman in the final, 3.969 to 4.011. Capps got there past Bobby Bode, J.R. Todd and Alexis DeJoria. Defending Norwalk winner Austin Prock fell to Beckman in the semifinals, and ice cream champ Matt Hagan lost in round one.
Pro Stock – Aaron Stanfield
Aaron Stanfield won Pro Stock the hard way, drilling a .002 light to hold off Matt Hartford in the final, 6.626 to 6.597. Stanfield beat Erica Enders, Cody Anderson and Kenny Delco, who had stunned No. 1 qualifier and points leader Greg Anderson on a .001 holeshot in round one. Saturday’s Callout winner, Dallas Glenn, broke before staging in the semifinals.
Pro Stock Motorcycle – Richard Gadson
Richard Gadson capped a huge weekend – the Mission #2Fast2Tasty bonus and now the Pro Stock Motorcycle Wally – when No. 1 qualifier and points leader Gaige Herrera fouled at the line in the final, handing Gadson the win with a 6.849. Gadson went through Odolph Daniels, Chase Van Sant and Joey Gladstone to reach the final.
Pro Modified – Kevin Rivenbark
Kevin Rivenbark won a Pro Mod thriller, edging Billy Banaka by inches in the final, 5.714 to 5.716. Rivenbark beat Mike Castellana, Derek Menholt and Lyle Barnett along the way, while No. 1 qualifier Mike Stavrinos bowed out in round two.
