Winner: Travis “The Carolina Kid” Harvey

Travis Harvey wins IHRA Pro Mod Mania and $125,000 at Milan Dragway. Harvey ran a perfect .000 reaction time in the final and drove his Holland Enterprise / Martin Technologies Camaro to a 3.6057 at 208.24 mph – holding off Melanie Salemi‘s quicker but losing 3.6022 at 208.04. Salemi’s .0238 light handed Harvey the holeshot. Harvey also recorded the quickest ET (3.6057), top mph (208.24), and best reaction of the entire eliminations.

Harvey’s perfect light put him .0238 of a second up the racetrack before Salemi got rolling. Her 3.6022 was .0035 quicker through the lights, but Harvey crossed the stripe first by .0203 seconds. A textbook holeshot for $125,000.

Both Harris and Salemi left the starting line before the tree turned green – Harris .0119 earlier than Salemi. Both red, but the deeper red loses, so Salemi advances to the final despite running a 3.5982 against Harris’s 3.5992. The No. 1 qualifier is out. On the other side, Harvey handles Coughlin clean.

Mountain Motor Pro Stock Final Qualifying

Jerry Tucker locks down the Mountain Motor Pro Stock No. 1 spot at Milan with a 4.0712 at 178.01 mph in the JT Motorsports Camaro. Jeremy Huffman follows at 4.106, Dwayne Rice at 4.110, Cory Voss at 4.131, with Bill Neri, the photogenic yellow Cobalt featured above, in the No. 5 spot at 4.217. Nobody improved in Q3 – the Q2 order stands as the final qualifying ladder. Eight cars in the field, eight to a Saturday ladder, every car runs first round.

Friday Night Rain Out

The rain arrived mid-Q3 with just two pairs of Pro Mods left to run, forcing officials to halt racing and ultimately pull the plug for the day. Mountain Motor Pro Stock had completed its Q3 turn before the weather rolled in; Pro Mod did not finish. The Q3 runs that did get down the racetrack are expected to count, and the Pro Mod field is considered set. Drag Illustrated is awaiting the final qualifying order to see whether any Q3 improvements shuffle the top of the ladder.

Pre-Race Storylines

Jason Harris locks down No. 1 at 3.5906

Jason Harris locks in the Pro Mod No. 1 qualifier spot at 3.5906 / 209.99 mph in the Party Time entry. Defending event winner Randy Weatherford moves up to No. 2 at 3.6023, and Paige Coughlin jumps from No. 7 to No. 3 at 3.6062 in the Norton/Jones/Hurricane Motorsports Camaro. Harris draws the only Round 1 bye on this 25-car ladder.

From Q1 deep to the top six – Mills, Blevins, Salemi go on a tear

Three of Q1’s biggest sufferers became Q3’s biggest stories. Kallee Mills moved from No. 23 in Q1 (4.511) and No. 25 in Q2 (4.228) all the way to No. 6 in final qualifying at 3.6221 – the climb of the weekend. Greg Blevins Jr. went from a 7.427 test pass in Q1 to No. 5 at 3.6107. Melanie Salemi rocketed from No. 18 in Q1 (3.740) to No. 4 at 3.6071. All three start Round 1 in the top half of the ladder.

22 cars under 3.70 in final qualifying – and Thornton hits 221 mph

22 of the 25-car field are now under 3.70 – up from 18 after Q2 and 13 after Q1. The top end is loaded too: Ed Thornton threw down the fastest MPH of the event at 221.35 to jump from No. 24 in Q2 all the way to No. 12 in final qualifying. Raymond Matos climbed to No. 7 at 3.6261. Travis “The Carolina Kid” Harvey holds No. 9 at 3.6283. Kye Kelley sits No. 10 at 3.6306. Saturday eliminations set up as a knife fight top to bump.

Paige Coughlin jumps to No. 3, draws Swanstrom in Round 1

Paige Coughlin jumped from No. 7 in Q2 to No. 3 in final qualifying with a 3.6062 in the Peter Norton-owned, Rickie Jones-tuned Camaro out of Hurricane Motorsports – the same combination that set the Mid-West Drag Racing Series record at Shakedown XXIII at M’Town last weekend. She draws Justin Swanstrom (No. 24, 3.7218) in the first round of eliminations. Milan is her second Pro Mod race – and the No. 3 spot says the Shakedown run was no flash.

Two-day window, three qualifying shots, one Saturday final

Three qualifying sessions Friday, four rounds of eliminations and the final Saturday. IHRA Pro Mod Mania is a two-day program at Milan with no Sunday raceday – the schedule lists Sunday as an IHRA rain day.

Mountain Motor Pro Stock returns to a track that just produced a breakthrough

Mountain Motor Pro Stock is on the card alongside Pro Mod. Dillon Voss picked up his first Mountain Motor Pro Stock victory at this very racetrack in 2025 – one of the storylines worth tracking back into Milan this weekend.
