Premier nostalgia gasser drag racing returns in 2026 with the Southeast Gassers Association contesting a championship season that will span the heart of the Southeast. The 2026 schedule starts in the month of April and will run through, after a summer break in July, the month of October. From North Carolina to Mississippi, a total of six Southeastern states will be visited including South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. Eight race tracks will host SEGA drag racing with a total of 10 championship events for competitor and fan alike to partake.
The 2026 schedule was revealed on SEGA Live, a talk show that routinely airs discussing all matters Southeast Gassers. “I think it’s going to be great. We’re going to some new places, we’re going to some places that we have been to before and haven’t been to before – I’m just excited to get back to racing,” was the thoughts from the owner of SEGA, Leslie Horne.
2026 for the SEGA season will begin and end at the only location that the series will visit two times in the season. The historic Shadyside Dragway will host the season opener on April 11. It then will bookend the season hosting the championship finals on October 31. These two events will not be the only occasion that North Carolina will see SEGA drag racing. The state has the distinction of hosting the most SEGA races in 2026 with a total of four events being contested at three facilities.
The second stop on tour will pay a visit to a track that was on the 2025 schedule, but due to unfavorable weather conditions for two weekends in a row, SEGA was forced to cancel the events. SEGA will pay a first-ever visit to Holiday Raceway in Woodstock, Alabama on May 2. SEGA has a large contingency of Alabamians that race in the series. Having this stop in Alabama is welcomed by those racers, fans, and the series.
The month of May will holds two SEGA races within its timeframe. The second stop will be on May 30 at Brainerd Motorsports Park in Ringgold, Georgia, hosting SEGA for what has become an annual event for north Georgia and southern Tennessee fans around the Chattanooga, Tennessee, area.
June will have one SEGA competitive contest hosted north of the previous location well into east Tennessee on Ole Rocky Top. Knoxville Dragway will have SEGA return once again to its beautiful setting on June 27. This event is a fan favorite that many schedule plans around to experience SEGA drag racing in this setting. Fans from Hawaii and even as far as Sweden have been in attendance at Knoxville Dragway.
SEGA will have a summer break during the month of July, but championship gasser drag racing will resume in the month of August at the only track in the lineup with no history of hosting a SEGA championship event. This venue climbed back to prominence by the tireless efforts of ownership and massive financial infusion, bringing it to a level that ensures its historic nature and modern amenities are on full display. In 2026 this facility will host its first-ever NHRA national event and SEGA is proud to be a part of the inaugural event lineups in 2026 as well. Rockingham Dragway will host the competitive gassers of SEGA for the first time on the first of August (8/1). It is SEGA’s second stop in North Carolina exposing itself to a new market for the series in Rockingham, North Carolina.
The second race to be held in August will see SEGA remain in the state of North Carolina. On August 22, the gear jammers of SEGA will return to Farmington Dragway in Mocksville, North Carolina. This venue has SEGA history, but the series hasn’t visited in a few years. Improvements have been made and the racers of the nostalgia revival that is the Southeast Gassers Association are excited to return to The Farm for the third race in North Carolina.
For the seventh stop on the SEGA 2026 tour, it’s a return to a very highly requested and anticipated track. SEGA returns to the very tip of its roots of SEGA drag racing to the track that started it all and shaped SEGA into what it is today. On September 12, SEGA will return to historic Greer Dragway in Greer, South Carolina. It’s been well over a decade since the racers and fans of SEGA have put on a show at this venerable venue. The return to this track marks the only race to be contested in South Carolina in 2026.
October will hold three SEGA races with the only double header weekend during the season. In 2025, SEGA raced its first-ever double race weekend at Gulfport Dragway in Gulfport, Mississippi, and it will happen again in 2026 after the resounding success it was for fans, the series, and the track. On October 9-10 during a 30th year anniversary of Cruisin’ The Coast, two SEGA races will be raced out in front of what is expected to be once again record attendance. This will be the longest tow for SEGA racers and the only contest held within the great state of Mississippi.
The season ends on Halloween 2026 at Shadyside Dragway for the fourth and final visit to beautiful North Carolina. The 2026 schedule is one that SEGA aims to return to core values in a myriad of ways. With core values in mind, the selected locations were strategically selected for racers and fans alike.
