Pro Stock Motorcycle: John Hall Surges to Career-Best Run, Nears First No. 1

It’s been a season of firsts for John Hall – and Friday night might’ve brought another one.

Just weeks removed from his first NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle win in over a decade, Hall ripped off a career-best 6.717 at 201.76 mph on his American Rebel Beer Buell to take the provisional No. 1 spot at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals.

If it holds, it would mark Hall’s first career No. 1 qualifier – a massive milestone in a comeback year. He also earned the $1,500 Deecell “After Dark Low Qualifier” award.

“I could have probably gone close to that in the first round, but I screwed up,” Hall admitted. “We knew it had power… and I just went out there and did it. I think I got every bit of it on that run.”

Much of the credit, Hall says, goes to Matt and Angie Smith, who have poured time and resources into getting the bike dialed in this season.

Gaige Herrera sits second with a 6.721, while Matt Smith is third after a 6.733 run.
