The 2025 season of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition is winding down, but for Taylor Chomiski — a two-time national event winner and a driver whose name has been part of this year’s championship conversation — a fresh wave of excitement is coming.

Chomiski, son of respected engine builder and lifelong racer Gary Chomiski, is gearing up to take his Blind Frog Ranch/CIP1.com Cobalt to the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a racetrack where he’s won three of the last four events.

“I was torn leaving the Stampede of Speed; I wanted more there, but for some reason, we’ve had some struggles at our home track,” said Dallas-based Chomiski, who clocked out in the semifinals of the JEGS Allstars and exited early in the main event at Texas Motorplex. “But the next stop on the tour is where I’ve turned on 16 win lights in a row, so I’m excited. I have two races left where I can claim points, and to be going back to the place that’s been my most favorable racetrack feels great. We have a shot at a little redemption after Dallas.”

After earning the first national event title of his career in Las Vegas last fall, Chomiski came into the 2025 season with momentum. He returned to Las Vegas in April for the Four-Wide Nationals and, stunningly, claimed victory again at the pristine facility that sits on the outskirts of Sin City. He was only getting warmed up. The following weekend, Chomiski wheeled the Blind Frog Ranch/CIP1.com Cobalt to five more win lights and scored the division trophy at The Strip.

The momentum continued to build with a final-round performance at the division race in Dallas in May and then another final in Tulsa in mid-September. Entering Las Vegas, Chomiski is No. 5 in the national standings with a mathematical shot at his first world title. Many things have to fall in his favor, but Lady Luck has been on his side there before.

“If all the stars align, it could happen,” said Chomiski, wearing a trademark grin. “There are a lot of variables, but we have a fast hot rod. In the gambling lines, I’ve probably got the longest shot, but there’s still a shot. We’re going to Las Vegas, and I know I can win there. If we do, it’ll be full steam ahead. We want win lights, and we want Wallys. We’re not quitting until the fight is over.”
