Dubbin Motorsports will return to Maple Grove Raceway September 11–14 for the 40th annual NHRA Reading Nationals presented by Nitro Fish. The Minnesota-based A/Fuel Dragster team—led by owner Dean Dubbin, with Kirk Wolf behind the wheel—enters the event looking to build on recent momentum following competitive outings at the NHRA Lucas Oil Series regional and national events held in Brainerd, MN.

Wolf, currently ranked 13th in the NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster standings, will drive the Dubbin Motorsports entry as the team continues its push toward a top-10 finish in the national points. The team is focused on executing against the premier Top Alcohol Dragster teams at one of the best tracks on the NHRA tour.

“We’re dialed in right now—everything’s clicking, and we’re coming off some good races and we are really looking forward to getting back to Reading,” said Dubbin. “Last year was a blast, and we picked up some valuable insight racing on the East Coast. Maple Grove’s one of those tracks where you can run big numbers when the air is right. It suits our operation perfectly and plays right into how we like to tune this car.”

In 2024, Dubbin Motorsports qualified 12th at Maple Grove but faced setbacks due to electrical issues and an air system leak that impacted performance during qualifying and eliminations. The team was unable to gather useful data across qualifying sessions, limiting their ability to make competitive adjustments going into eliminations.

“We showed strong pace in Q1 last year but ran into electrical gremlins that cost us valuable sessions,” said Dubbin. “We didn’t have the data to get into the low 5.20s or teens, and that’s where you need to be to contend at Maple Grove. This year, we’re entering with a stable setup and expect to be more competitive.”

Wolf emphasized the team’s readiness and ability to adapt to changing track conditions.

“The schedule has us qualifying and racing from mid-morning through late evening. Maple Grove changes throughout the day, and we’re better prepared to adjust,” said Wolf. “Last year we got behind early, but the crew worked through every issue. This time, we’re coming in very well-prepared and ready to run strong every time down the track. This team is hungry to get back to the winner’s circle and hold a ‘Wally’, and this is a track where we can make that happen – this is right in the wheelhouse of where Clay and Chase (Copeland) like to tune. This car can run fast in these conditions.”

With a strong showing at Maple Grove, the team aims to close the season with momentum and a top-10 finish in the national standings.
