After lacking sufficient funding to compete in the full Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series season, Ida Zetterström is back behind the wheel of the JCM Racing Top Fuel Dragster this weekend at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway – marking her first time competing at the New Hampshire facility.
The European standout and reigning FIA Top Fuel champion continues to build her U.S. presence through a part-time NHRA schedule. The Epping stop was a late addition following her broadcast role during the Joliet event, part of a broader effort to remain visible and attract new partners to support her campaign in 2025 and beyond.
“I’m really happy to be able to add Epping to our schedule this year,” said Zetterström. “It was not originally planned, but I’m super stoked to get back out there. I was at this race last year with the team, but not in a race car, and I remember really liking the atmosphere and all the great fans. It will be great to come back and actually be in a car and competing this year.”
Zetterström last competed at the four-wide event in Charlotte, where she qualified 10th and was eliminated in the first round by Shawn Langdon and Josh Hart. Despite the early exit, Zetterström left Charlotte with a renewed sense of optimism.
“I feel like when we left the four-wides in Charlotte, we had the best race car we’ve had since we started this program, so I am extra excited to get back in the car this weekend and continue the momentum we found there,” she added. “Our Top Fuel team is going into this weekend with great confidence and feel like we’re in a very strong position to take on the field.”
Zetterström will also participate in two fan-facing autograph sessions at the Dodge display: Friday at 4:15 p.m. and Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
