Global Automotive Leaders Signal Industry Strength at 2025 SEMA Show Opening Ceremony

The 2025 SEMA Show opened Tuesday at the Las Vegas Convention Center, reinforcing its position as the automotive aftermarket’s most influential global business event. Produced by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the Show serves as a launchpad for innovation, partnerships, and growth in an industry that contributes $337 billion annually to the U.S. economy and supports more than 1.3 million jobs.

The Show officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key leaders, including SEMA President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mike Spagnola, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) President Glen Cromwell, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) CEO/President Steve Hill, Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, First Congressional District of Nevada Rep. Dina Titus, and SEMA Board Chair Melanie White. Their presence underscores the Show’s global significance and its status as Las Vegas’ longest-running citywide event.

“The SEMA Show stands as the global hub for automotive innovation and commerce,” said Spagnola. “It brings together leaders and visionaries to shape strategies that will define the future of mobility and aftermarket growth worldwide.”

Why It Matters
As technology accelerates and consumer preferences shift, the SEMA Show provides clarity and confidence for businesses navigating change. From propulsion diversity — ICE, EV, hydrogen, hybrid, and synthetic fuels — to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and immersive experiences, the Show reflects an industry innovating for the future.

With consumer spending on aftermarket accessories reaching $52.65 billion in 2024, the Show underscores the strength of a sector that continues to thrive and expand globally.

“Every year, the SEMA Show introduces technologies and ideas that transform the automotive landscape,” said SEMA Vice President of Events Tom Gattuso. “From ADAS solutions to alternative propulsion and performance builds, innovation here drives progress across the entire aftermarket.”

Where Innovation Meets Opportunity
The SEMA Show is a strategic platform for companies to launch products, forge partnerships, and gain insights into emerging trends. With 2,300 exhibiting brands, including 500 first-time participants, more than 70% of attendees in senior leadership roles, and over 150,000 participants from 140 countries, the Show delivers unmatched access to decision-makers and global markets.

Key business drivers at the 2025 SEMA Show include:

  • OEM Engagement: Strong participation from Ford Performance, Honda Racing Corp., Mopar/Stellantis, Nissan and Toyota, signals confidence in the aftermarket’s role in future mobility solutions.
  • Innovation Pipeline: Thousands of new products debut across the campus, including 2,000+ featured in the New Products Showcase, setting the tone for one of the most innovative product cycles in history.
  • FutureTech Studio: A dedicated space offers hands-on demos, 45+ advanced displays, and 30 vehicles showcasing next-generation technologies.
  • ADAS Integration: Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems take center stage this year, highlighting the industry’s commitment to safety and technology. Exhibitors are featuring solutions that help shops adapt to evolving vehicle platforms and consumer expectations.
  • Show-Stopping Builds: From the hundreds of feature vehicles, and the highly anticipated SEMA Battle of the Builders presented by Mothers Polish competition, craftsmanship and creativity remain central to the aftermarket’s identity.

Connecting Culture and Commerce
On Friday, the Show opens its doors to the public, giving enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience the industry’s premier trade event. The day concludes with SEMA Fest, an epic celebration blending car culture with live entertainment. Featuring Queens of the Stone Age, The Black Crowes, and Neon Trees, the event creates a unique opportunity for brands to engage enthusiasts and inspire the next generation of builders and consumers.

Beyond live music, SEMA Fest features thrilling motorsports demos and curated car displays, creating an immersive celebration of performance and culture. The event serves as a strategic extension of the Show’s mission to connect passion with business.
