It’s already time for the World Finals of the STM Powersports Snow Outlaws snowmobile drag racing series, as another warmth shortened season finishes up this weekend (Friday, February 27th and Saturday the 28th) at Three Lakes-Brule River Trails at Spirit Lake, 1426 State Highway 32 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin, USA.
The only warmth at Three Lakes this weekend, though, will be the nitro exhaust and hot action of the wild Snow Outlaws sleds as they slice roostertails across the purpose-built, 500-foot, snow-packed racing surface.
Friday will be balmy, but those not up to the challenges of Saturday’s single degree temps can enjoy the full-scale live video production courtesy of IHRA.
St. Germain Outlaw class winner Tyson Enerson will be looking to repeat on his unique compressed air supercharged, Hypersports, gasoline-fueled two-cylinder sled.
The win happened largely due to Enerson’s huge jump on Dominick Ernst at the starting line. Ernst’s screw-supercharged, nitro “Eagle-1” was gaining but came up short. Still, Enerson’s sled is brand new, with lots still to be learned every pass about its unique supercharging system.
St. Germain number one qualifier Ethan Erhardt is motivated to complete the job this time, as are Johnathan Lentzkow, R. Dustin, three class competitor Jagger Ashley, the Return of Alec Gibas, and more.
St. Germain winner Brian Sullivan is always a good bet to win Pro Xtreme 55 on his “John Deere” sled, but he’ll face a lot of serious competition. That includes St. Germain runner-up Kyle Viney, Pro Modified runner-up Jesse Bruns on Troy Larson’s red sled, Ashley, Devin Kirane, Scott Kostman, Casey Down, Ryan Santry and more.
Ashley won Pro Mod at St. Germain and will look to do the same this weekend. Louis Goldbach, Tyler Stelton, Candace Down, Dante Gratti and many, many more will stand in his way.
So get out in the snow while you still can. Remember, Snow Outlaws races are always FREE for spectators! Friday’s explosive nighttime qualifying is at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00pm. Saturday’s eliminations start at noon with the finals running promptly at 4:00pm (or 3:00, depending on sled count).
Chad and Jenny Nyhus and the whole Snow Outlaws crew will have the Three Lakes track on point for the racers and good times aplenty for the spectators. So racer or spectator, get out and have some fun!
