Many people have asked where is Brad McBride’s Volkswagen Fastback. For the past few seasons, the famed VW known as “BLITZKRIEG” has been seen touring the PDRA circuit in Super Street. But the last half of 2025, it seemed to have disappeared.
“A lot of fans and competitors would ask why I was not racing the VW, and I would tell them that I am working on something special,” said McBride.
At this year’s Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, McBride will unveil the Fastback as he celebrates a five-year partnership with ICON Pistons, a division of United Engine and Machine.
McBride states that Chris and everyone at ICON have been great to work with and that it is exciting to be a part of developing high-quality parts. The partnership has been instrumental in the success of McBride’s program, which has seen world records set along with a VW Heritage Series World Championship. In addition, McBride also won the PDRA World Finals in 2024, which made the famed Volkswagen the first and only to win in a pro category.
“It takes a lot to compete against the V8s in the PDRA, but the durability of ICON allows us to push hard,” McBride said. “We see excess of 60psi boost and never have an issue.”
McBride has been busy creating the new look and designing new parts and pieces for BLITZKRIEG as the team prepares for PRI. If you want to see it all, ICON Booth 1251 is the place to be at this year’s PRI Show.
