The heavyweight Pro Stock rivalry between Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn reached another gear on Friday night.
Anderson laid down a monster 6.472 at 211.13 mph to steal the track record from his KB Titan Racing teammate and grab the provisional No. 1 spot at Pacific Raceways. He also picked up the $2,500 Deecell “After Dark Low Qualifier” award for his efforts.
Glenn had set the record earlier in the day with a 6.479, but Anderson fired back in the evening session – this time, on his home turf.
“Two great runs for both of us. We’re certainly not disappointed either way,” Anderson said. “Getting the track record is definitely cool, but sometimes that low E.T. doesn’t win a race. I’d certainly rather have the fastest race car – and it appears either Dallas or I have that right now.”
Anderson is aiming for his fifth win of the season and his first No. 1 qualifying effort of the year – which would be the 137th of his storied career.
Greg Stanfield jumped into the mix as well, slotting into third with a strong 6.493 at 210.31.
