Howard Moon Joins Gerry Capano’s Split Racing NHRA Pro Mod Team

Split Racing is thrilled to announce partnership with Howard Moon aka Dr. Moon’s Rage as well as new crew member Mac Burnet. After a series of not qualifying at previous NHRA events, the team jumped on the opportunity to work with the championship tuner.

Howard is a multiple time world championship crew chief, winning titles in the NHRA and IHRA, holds 40 national event wins behind the wheel and has been a national record holder in several different events. In addition, he has also been building engines for several decades.

Mac was born into the racing world and worked alongside his dad racing the IHRA modified series until he became a full-time employee for Roy Hill at his infamous Drag Racing School when he met Howard.

Howard and Mac have been working in the Pro Modified world together since 2003. Since then, Moon has tuned his way to over 40 national event wins as well as earned world records for both ET and MPH.

For a small crew like Split Racing, whose been called “the underdog” before, gaining this experience and knowledge looks for a fast future. The team is thrilled to have gained two “king players” in the competitive Pro Modified class.

“We’re hopeful to be able to improve our performance in Houston at the Spring Nationals,” said driver/owner Gerry Capano. “Working with Howard and Mac is having the best-of-the best behind me, I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to work with them. It wouldn’t be possible without the help of our sponsors HEM Saw, LC Homes, Amalie Motor Oil and Modern Outlaw.”

With Dr. Moon and Mac part of the team, Split Racing is ready to “feel the Rage” and looking forward to putting their best foot forward at their next outing in Baytown, Houston with the NHRA occurring April 29-May 1.
